Франц Улсын үндэсний цагдаагийн хүчин болох The Gendarmerie нь 2004 оноос хойш нээлттэй эх (open source) программ хангамжийг нэвтрүүлж, байгууллагуудынхаа компьютерийг Ubuntu Linux үйлдлийн системд шилжүүлж 50 сая евро хэмнээд байна.
The Gendarmerie нь 2005 оноос Microsoft Office-ийг OpenOffice.org-оор солин нээлттэй эхийн программ хангамж руу байгууллагаа бүхэлд нь шилжүүлэх ажлыг эхэлсэн. Энэ нь аажмаар Firefox ба Thunderbird зэрэг (more…)

Linux based Э-санал өгөх машин

10 хоногын өмнө 130 сая бразилчууд 400,000 нэгжид Э-санал өгөх машин ашиглан саналаа өгч сонгуульд оролцож гэнэ ээ. Бүх машин дээр Linux kernel ажилласан байна.

Сонгуулийн хугацаа дууссанаас 7 минутын дараа  Ibiam хэмээх хотын дүн бүрэн гарсан бол 20 цагын дараа, бразилын бүх хот 2009-2012онд ажиллах хотын захирагч болон иргэдийн төлөөлөгчидөө хэн сонгогдсоноо мэдсэн байхийн.

Сүүлийн үед ийм хэлц гарчээ; “Тусламж гуйсан хэн нэгэнд 5н загас өгсөнөөр өнөөдөрт нь л хоолтой болгоно. Аа харин Linux –ийг яаж ашиглахыг зааж өгсөнөөр бүх насаар нь хоолтой нь золгуулна.”

Жишээ нь OLPC (хүүхэд бүрт зөөврийн компьютер төсөл) Зорилго нь “..to create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.”

Манайд энэ төслөөр 20,000 зөөврийн компьютер ирээд тараагдаж байгаа билээ.

Fedora дээр суурилсан энэ төсөл нь эхэлсэн цагаасаа хойш 550,000 XO laptops -уудыг 23 улсад зарчихаад байгаан байна.

Dell’s much-anticipated subnotebook product, which could be available to consumers by the end of the week, will be offered with Ubuntu 8.04 preinstalled. The little laptop is called the Inspiron 910 and it could displace the venerable Asus Eee PC as the dominant Linux-based notebook.

The diminutive Dell was first spotted at the All Things D event in May. There has been much speculation about what software platform will ship with the device when it finally hits the market. Our sources told us that Linux would be available as an option, and this was confirmed this morning when Gizmodo published detailed specifications which show that buyers will be able to choose between Ubuntu 8.04 and Windows XP.
